Treatment of Polyester Tape Substrate

The base material of polyester tape, polyester film tape is made of polyethylene terephthalate by biaxial stretching. This kind of film is a kind of colorless transparent film, which has high tensile strength and flexibility, good insulation performance, heat resistance, moisture resistance and chemical stability. It has poor arc resistance and alkali resistance, and is easy to have alcoholysis and hydrolysis.

The temperature range of polyester tape substrate is -20 ~ 180 ℃. It is widely used in phase insulation, slot insulation and slot wedge of low voltage motor, interlayer insulation of transformer, substrate of flexible printed circuit board and flat cable, wrapping insulation and marking material of wire and cable.

There are two kinds of coating surface of polyester tape substrate: primer treatment and corona treatment. The back of the substrate is often treated with a spacer (also known as an anti sticking agent). The special corona generator is used for corona treatment. It is generally installed after the substrate feeding equipment and before the gluing equipment in the coating machine production line. The special corona generator is used for corona treatment. Before gluing, the on-line corona treatment is carried out on the substrate, and the corona-treated substrate immediately enters the gluing process to maintain a good treatment effect.

Some polyester tape substrate is corona treated in the manufacturer. The corona generator is installed before the winding of the substrate film. After the base material is purchased by the pressure-sensitive adhesive product manufacturer, corona treatment is not necessary before gluing. However, the polyester adhesive tape base material can not be stored in the warehouse for too long, otherwise, the corona treatment effect will gradually weaken, or even become completely invalid.

Primer and release agent treatment can be carried out in the general coater production line. The coating amount of primer and release agent is generally much smaller than that of pressure sensitive adhesive, so it is necessary to use those coaters which are suitable for small coating which can be evenly coated, such as gravure roller coater.
