Characteristics and Precautions of PTFE Teflon Adhesive Tape

PTFE Teflon adhesive tape is a high-performance, high-temperature-resistant tape. The primary component of PTFE Teflon adhesive tape is polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which is combined with glass fiber fabric and Teflon emulsion. After coating and drying, it is further coated with a layer of silicone adhesive.

Characteristics of PTFE Teflon Adhesive Tape

  • Temperature Resistance:PTFE Teflon adhesive tape is suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -196°C to 300°C. It has excellent weather resistance and anti-aging properties. In practical applications, even under continuous exposure to 250°C for 200 days, the tape maintains its strength and weight. After 120 hours at 350°C, the weight only decreases by approximately 0.6%. The tape also retains its flexibility even in ultra-low temperatures as low as -180°C.

  • Non-Stick Properties:The surface of PTFE Teflon adhesive tape is smooth and does not easily adhere to any substances. It is easy to clean and remove various oils, stains, or other contaminants from its surface. Almost all adhesive materials such as paste, resin, and coatings can be easily removed.

  • Chemical Resistance:PTFE Teflon adhesive tape is highly resistant to strong acids, strong alkalis, aqua regia, and various organic solvents.

  • Drug Resistance and Non-Toxicity:The tape is resistant to almost all chemicals and is non-toxic.

  • High Electrical Insulation:PTFE Teflon adhesive tape has excellent electrical insulation properties, with a low dielectric constant (2.6) and a tangent of loss below 0.0025. It is also resistant to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and static electricity.

  • Fire Resistance:PTFE Teflon adhesive tape is fire-resistant and flame-retardant.

  • Ease of Use and Long Service Life:PTFE Teflon adhesive tape is easy to apply and offers a long service life.

Precautions for Using PTFE Teflon Adhesive Tape

  • Avoid Excessive Bending or Twisting:Due to its low surface energy, PTFE Teflon adhesive tape may crack or break when excessively bent or twisted. It is important to avoid over-bending or twisting the tape during use.

  • Surface Preparation:The adhesive strength of PTFE Teflon adhesive tape primarily depends on surface tension. Therefore, to achieve the best bonding performance, ensure the surface is clean and dry during application.

  • UV Exposure:To maintain the tape's long-lasting adhesive strength and waterproof properties, it should be protected from prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.
